Taxonomy
Semele fausta was named by Nomland (1917). Its type specimen is UCMP 11102 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP loc. 2991 - Zapato Creek, which is in a Pliocene marine horizon in the Etchegoin Formation of California.
