Taxonomy
Xotodon major was named by Rovereto (1914). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Huayquerías del Este (Tunuyán Fm), which is in a Messinian/Zanclean fluvial sandstone in the Tunuyán Formation of Argentina.
