Daohugoidae was named by Rasnitsyn and Zhang (2004). It is not extant. Its type is Daohugoa.

It was reranked as the subfamily Daohugoinae by Wang et al. (2019).

It was assigned to Siricoidea by Rasnitsyn and Zhang (2004), Taeger et al. (2010); and to Xyelidae by Wang et al. (2019).
