Taxonomy
Parvimico materdei was named by Kay et al. (2019). Its type specimen is IPVF-5000, a tooth (left M1), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is AMD-45, which is in a Santacrucian fluvial conglomerate in the Bala Formation of Peru. It is the type species of Parvimico.
