Taxonomy
Anoglochis cretensis was named by Simonelli (1907). Its type specimen is MGGC number unknown, a limb element (metacarpal), and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Cervus cretensis by Kuss (1970); it was recombined as Megaceros cretensis by Kotsakis et al. (1976); it was recombined as Candiacervus cretensis by Kuss (1975), de Vos (1996) and van der Geer (2018).
