Ptychoparia linnarssoni was named by Walcott (1884). Its type specimen is USNM 24611 and is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Alokistocare linnarssoni by Walcott (1916) and Mason (1935); it was recombined as Eldoradia linnarssoni by Resser (1935) and Palmer (1954).
