Taxonomy
Volocephalina contracta was named by Palmer and Halley (1979). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Pyramid Peak (USGS 4158-CO), which is in a Delamaran shallow subtidal lime mudstone/mudstone in the Carrara Formation of California.
