Taxonomy
Culicoides (Groganomyia) burmiticus was named by Szadziewski and Dominiak (2019). Its type specimen is ISEA BUB 1745, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Burmese amber (ISEA Krakow collection), which is in a Cenomanian terrestrial amber in Myanmar.
It was recombined as Culicoides burmiticus by Borkent and Dominiak (2020).
