Feducciavis loftini
Taxonomy
Feducciavis loftini was named by Olson (2011) [Large anoine ‘‘tern’’ differing greatly from Anous and Procelsterna in proportions: tibiotarsus shorter relative to humerus length than in any other Lari; ulna longer relative to humerus length than in any Lari, except Stercorariidae; sternum proportionately smaller than in Anous. Quadrate morphology and mandibular articulation distinct from any of the genera of Lari.]. Its type specimen is USNM 23692, a partial skeleton (associated partial skeleton), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Stratford Bluffs, Zone 11, which is in a Langhian estuary/bay claystone in the Calvert Formation of Virginia.
