Electruphilus wendeli was named by Balke et al. (2019). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Bitterfeld amber (Rappsilber Goitzsche Bernstein GmbH collection), which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in Germany. It is the type species of Electruphilus.
