Taxonomy
Riphidia brodiei was named by Cockerell (1917). Its type specimen is BMNH I. 8603, a wing, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Bembridge Marls (Brodie coll), which is in a Priabonian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal lime mudstone in the Bouldnor Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Dicranomyia (Dicranomyia) brodiei by Krzemiński (2019).
