Baiera tenuifolia was named by Johnston (1887). It is not extant.

It was recombined as Czekanowskia tenuifolia by Jones and de Jersey (1947); it was recombined as Sphenobaiera tenuifolia by Jain and Delevoryas (1967) and Holmes (1982).
