B. Engesser 1972The smallest known representant of subfamily Desmaninae. Upper molars with only weakly split mesostyle, metastyle of M1 sup. strongly developed. Inner cusps of M1 sup. connected by a transverse ridge. Lower molars short and broad with a strongly shortened talonid. Cusps of M inf. are lingually directed. Hypoconid of M2 inf. clearly lower than protoconid. Meta- and entoconid very close to each other. Outer cingulum strong, especially on M2 inf..
