Alveojunctus was named by Bown (1982). It is not extant. Its type is Alveojunctus minutus.
It was assigned to Uintasoricinae by Bown (1982), Gunnell (1989), Hooker et al. (1999); and to Picromomyidae by Rose and Bown (1996), McKenna and Bell (1997), Silcox et al. (2002).
