Hoplictis was named by Ginsburg (1961) [named as a subgenus of Ischyrictis by Ginsburg 1961, type H. florancei from France; raised to genus level by Ginsburg & Morales (1992)]. It is not extant.
It was assigned to Mustelidae by Ginsburg and Morales (1992); to Ischyrictini by Baskin (1998); and to Mellivorinae by Valenciano et al. (2018).
