Taxonomy
Architipula vicina was named by Handlirsch (1939). It is an impression. Its type locality is Dobbertin, Mecklenburg (Greifswald collection), which is in a Toarcian offshore claystone in Germany.

It was recombined as Mesotipula (Mesotipula) vicina by Kopeć et al. (2020); it was recombined as Mesotipula vicina by Krzemiński and Zessin (1990), Gao et al. (2015), Kopeć et al. (2020).
