Vasticardium somnueki was named by Hylleberg (2015) [Diagnostic characters. Maximum length 76.7 mm. Minute crossbars with very small lateral knobs on both sides (Fig. 5J-K). Longest dents in the fidele group (Fig. 5I). Scales on ribs 4-7 become gradually
smaller and oriented parallel with the posterior ribs (Fig. 5D, G).]. It is extant. Its type specimen is PMBC n° 16348.
