Americardia columbella was named by Lee and Huber (2012) [Large, quadrangular, orange-brown Americardia with distinct posterior sulcus and intermediate number of ribs, closely adjacent and without any interstices anteriorly.]. It is extant. Its type specimen is UF 447280.
