Taxonomy
Prestwichia birtwelli was named by Woodward (1872). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cornfield pit, south bank of river Calder, near Padiham, which is in a Westphalian A interdistributary bay shale in the Lower Coal Measures Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Euproops birtwelli by Woodward (1918); it was recombined as Liomesaspis birtwelli by Anderson et al. (1997); it was recombined as Pringlia birtwelli by Raymond (1944), Lamsdell (2020).
