Protorohippus

Taxonomy
Protorohippus was named by Wortman (1896). Its type is Eohippus venticolus.

It was synonymized subjectively with Eohippus by Granger (1908), Matthew (1909), Hay (1930) and Stirton (1940); it was synonymized subjectively with Hyracotherium by Kitts (1956), Robinson (1966), Schiebout (1974) and Gingerich (1991).

It was assigned to Hyracotheriinae by Hay (1902); and to Equidae by Wortman (1896), Prothero and Schoch (1989), Froehlich (1999) and Froehlich (2002).
