Taxonomy
Limulus syriacus was named by Woodward (1879). It is a mold. Its type locality is Hakel (Lewis collection), which is in a Cenomanian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal carbonate in Lebanon.
It was recombined as Tachypleus syriacus by Lamsdell and McKenzie (2015), Lamsdell (2020), Bicknell et al. (2021).
