Dicerorhinus caucasicus was named by Borissiak (1935).

It was recombined as Beliajevina caucasica by Antoine et al. (2002); it was recombined as Caementodon (Beliajevina) caucasicum by Antoine (2003) and Guérin and Pickford (2003).
