Taxonomy
Eucyon zhoui was named by Tedford and Qiu (1996). Its type specimen is V12181 (THP 10199), a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Yinjiao, Yushe Basin, which is in a Pliocene terrestrial horizon in China.
