Taxonomy
Macoma inquinata affinis was named by Nomland (1917). Its type specimen is UCMP 11092 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Macoma affinis by Durham and Addicott (1965); it was recombined as Macoma (Macoma) inquinata affinis by Moore (2003).
