Taxonomy
Planopusa semenovi was named by Koretsky and Rahmat (2021). Its type specimen is NMNHU-P 64-709, a partial skull (rostral part of the skull with I3, C, P1, P2, and isolated P4 and M1; P3 is absent), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Grytsiv (aka Gritsev), which is in a Miocene/Miocene karst limestone in Ukraine. It is the type species of Plantopusa.
