Taxonomy
Burmala liaoyaoi was named by Liu et al. (2021). Its type specimen is LYU-MD-M001, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Burmese amber (Linyi University LYU collection), which is in a Cenomanian terrestrial amber in Myanmar. It is the type species of Burmala.
