Taxonomy
Tetonoides pearcei was named by Gazin (1962). Its type specimen is U.S.N.M. No. 22426, a mandible (right ramus of mandible with P3-M2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bitter Creek, which is in a Wasatchian terrestrial horizon in the Wasatch Formation of Wyoming. It is the type species of Tetonoides.
It was synonymized subjectively with Tetonius musculus by Delson (1971); it was synonymized subjectively with Anemorhysis tenuiculus by Szalay (1976); it was recombined as Anemorhysis pearcei by Bown (1974), Bown and Rose (1984), Bown and Rose (1987), Rose (1995).
