Diagnosis
Reference | Diagnosis | |
---|---|---|
L. Hautier et al. 2021 | Smallest elephantiform with brachyodont and bunolophodont molars. Dagbatitherium differs from all non- elephantiform proboscideans by the association of a large mesoconid, a third lophid (a tritolophid) with a large and iso- lated hypoconulid mesial to a minute posterior cingulid, and a three-layered Schmelzmuster with three-dimensional enamel (3DE) on the inner zone, Hunter–Schreger bands (HSB) in the middle zone and radial enamel (RE) in the outer zone. Dagbatitherium differs from Palaeomastodon and Phiomia by its small size, as well as a more brachyodont and bunodont molar pattern. |
