Taxonomy

Phthiria dubia was named by Germar (1837). Its type specimen is STIPB A 595, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Orsberg (Goldfuss Bonn collection), which is in a MP 30 lacustrine - large shale in the Rott Formation of Germany.

It was recombined as Bibio dubius by Evenhuis (1994); it was recombined as Plecia dubia by Skartveit and Wedmann (2021).

Synonyms

Helophilus primarius was named by Germar (1837). Its type specimen is STIPB A 603, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Orsberg (Goldfuss Bonn collection), which is in a MP 30 lacustrine - large shale in the Rott Formation of Germany.

It was considered a nomen dubium by Hull (1945); it was synonymized subjectively with Plecia dubia by Skartveit and Wedmann (2021).
Protomyia abava was named by von Heyden and von Heyden (1865). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Rott (Krantz Bonn coll), which is in a MP 30 lacustrine - large shale in the Rott Formation of Germany.

It was recombined as Plecia abava by Statz (1943) and Evenhuis (1994); it was synonymized subjectively with Plecia dubia by Skartveit and Wedmann (2021).
Plecia satyrus was named by Statz (1943). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Rott (Statz Collection), which is in a Chattian lacustrine - small shale in the Rott Formation of Germany.

It was synonymized subjectively with Plecia dubia by Skartveit and Wedmann (2021).
