Diagnosis
Reference | Diagnosis | |
---|---|---|
W. W. Dalquest and O. Mooser 1980 | A very large peccary, larger than Desmathyus pinensis Matthew, the type of the genus, and other described species. Almost exactly the size of the Blancan-age Platygonus bicalcaratus Cope. Distinguished from described species of Desmathyus by small but distinict posterior lobe of upper M3 and cusp of molars only lightly wrinkled. Readily distinguished from species of Platygonus by extremely brachydont dentition. | |
