Taxonomy
Theronia nigriscutum was named by Klopfstein (2022). Its type specimen is MOL-MHM-5412, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Ejerslev Molergrav, Mors, between layers +25 and +30 , which is in a Ypresian offshore ramp diatomite/volcaniclastic in the Fur Formation of Denmark.
