Taxonomy
Elphidotarsius russelli was named by Krause (1978). Its type specimen is UALVP 11742, a tooth (left p4), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cochrane 2, which is in a Ti1 fluvial-lacustrine siltstone in the Paskapoo Formation of Canada.
