Siccibythus martynovae was named by Rasnitsyn et al. (2020). Its type specimen is PIN 5620/22a, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Burmese amber (PIN collection 5620), which is in a Cenomanian terrestrial amber in Myanmar.
