Taxonomy
Hemiacodon casamissus was named by Beard et al. (1992). Its type specimen is CM 62035, a mandible (associated left and right dentary fragments preserving left M2, talonid heel of left M3, right M1-2, and right P3), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Buck Spring Quarries, which is in a Lostcabinian terrestrial limestone in the Wind River Formation of Wyoming.
