Taxonomy
Jansofelis vaufreyi was named by Bonifay (1971). It is not extant. Its type locality is La grotte de l'Escale bed H, Saint-Esteve-Janson, Bouches du Rhone., which is in a Pleistocene cave horizon in France. It is the type species of Jansofelis.
