Staurolonche was named by Haeckel (1881) [Sepkoski's age data: J u K l Sepkoski's reference number: 753 emend. Pessagno, 1977]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Emiluviinae by Zügel (1997); to Stylosphaeridae by Sashida et al. (1999); and to Spumellaria by Sepkoski (2002).
