Camponotites cockerelli
Taxonomy
Leucotaphus cockerelli was named by Donisthorpe (1920). Its type specimen is BMNH I.8517, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Bembridge Marls (Brodie coll), which is in a Priabonian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal lime mudstone in the Bouldnor Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Camponotus cockerelli by Dlussky and Perfilieva (2014); it was recombined as Camponotites cockerelli by Boudinot et al. (2024).
