Taxonomy
Ovibos yukonensis was named by Gidley (1908). Its type specimen is USNM 5728, a partial skull (The greater portion of a skull, but lacking the nasals, the premaxillaries and most of the teeth), and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was synonymized subjectively with Ovibos moschatus by Harington (1970) and Kurten and Anderson (1980).

The horn-cores droop in about the same degree as in the living species. |
