Taxonomy
Pachygyra cottaldina was named by d'Orbigny (1850). Its type specimen is lectotype MNHN-F-B12248, a skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was corrected as Pachygyra cotteauana by Étallon (1859); it was misspelled as Pachygyra cotteaui by de Fromentel (1861).
