Taxonomy
Prionailurus kurteni was named by Jiangzuo et al. (2024). Its type specimen is IVPP V33075, a mandible (partial mandible with p4 and m1), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hualongdong Caves, which is in a Pleistocene cave limestone in China.

Differs from Pardofelis marmorata and Catopuma spp. by much smaller size, and slightly mesially inclined m1. |
