Plicapollis incisa was named by Christopher (1979). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Plate 8, figs. 10, 11 (sample R1012J, slide 2, coordinates 39.4 x 100.6), a microspore, and it is a 3D body fossil.
