Vespa (Intervespa) tortonica
Taxonomy
Vespa (Intervespa) tortonica was named by Engel and Nel (2024). Its type specimen is MNHN.F.A95075, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Montagne d'Andance, Saint-Bauzile, Privas (MNHN collection), which is in a Turolian crater lake diatomite/volcaniclastic in France. It is the type species of Vespa (Intervespa).
