Taxonomy
Cyclolites orbitolites was named by Michelin (1841). Its type specimen is syntypes MNHN.F.M00083, a skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Montlivaltia orbitolites by d'Orbigny (1850).
