Taxonomy
Synastrea arduennensis was named by d'Orbigny (1850). Its type specimen is syntype MNHN.F.B12751, a skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Thamnastraea arduennensis by Milne-Edwards and Haime (1857); it was misspelled as Synastraea arduennensis by de Fromentel (1861).
