Lithodendron articulatum was named by Michelin (1843). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Eunomia articulata by d'Orbigny (1850); it was recombined as Cladophyllia articulata by Milne-Edwards and Haime (1857), de Fromentel (1861).
