Milne Edwards & Haime assign their species to Stylina with a question mark. The syntype MNHN.F.A09464 with a thin section points to Heliocoenia.

Taxonomy
Stylina thurmani was named by Edwards and Haime (1851). Its type specimen is syntypes MNHN.F.A09463-64, a skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil.
