Tellina equilateralis was named by Meek and Hayden (1857) [DISTRIBUTION: Campanian; Western Interior.]. It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Sourimis.
It was recombined as Tellina (Peronaea) equilateralis by Meek (1876); it was recombined as Sourimis equilateralis by Speden (1970).
