Sinopa shoshoniensis was named by Matthew and Granger (1915).
It was synonymized subjectively with Arfia opisthotoma by Bown (1979); it was recombined as Arfia shoshoniensis by Van Valen (1965), Delson (1971), Gingerich and Deutsch (1989), Polly (1993), Polly (1996), Gunnell (1998), Solé et al. (2014), Borths et al. (2016).
It was synonymized subjectively with Arfia opisthotoma by Bown (1979); it was recombined as Arfia shoshoniensis by Van Valen (1965), Delson (1971), Gingerich and Deutsch (1989), Polly (1993), Polly (1996), Gunnell (1998), Solé et al. (2014), Borths et al. (2016).
