Taxonomy
Lapicixius yixianensis was named by Boderau et al. (2025). Its type specimen is NIGP209638, an exoskeleton (tegmen), and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Huangbanjigou, Shangyuan Town, NIGP collection, which is in a Barremian lacustrine - large mudstone in the Yixian Formation of China.
