Taxonomy
Anaptomorphus homunculus was named by Cope (1882). Its type specimen is AMNH 4194, a skull (nearly complete skull with right P3-M3 and left C, P3-M3), and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Tetonius homunculus by Matthew (1915), Gregory (1920), Gazin (1958), Bown (1974), Szalay (1976), Bown (1979), Gingerich (1980) and Bown and Rose (1987).
